Position Overview

The Head of Marketing and Communications develops and executes comprehensive marketing and communication strategies that enhance the brand image, promotes the services of Business Barbados, and engages stakeholders. The Head of Marketing and Communications leads the marketing team and oversees all marketing, advertising, and public relations activities to enhance Business Barbados' visibility and competitiveness.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Planning

  • Develop and implement marketing and communication strategies aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape.
  • Create and manage annual marketing plans and budgets.

2. Brand Management

  • Build and maintain a strong, consistent brand image and voice.
  • Oversee the development and execution of brand guidelines.
  • Ensure brand integrity across all marketing and communication channels.
  • Maintain awareness of Brand Barbados to ensure high level alignment and to allow for strategic partnerships.

3. Campaign Development and Execution

  • Plan, create, and execute multi-channel marketing campaigns to drive brand awareness and engagement.
  • Utilize various marketing channels including digital, print, social media, events, and PR.
  • Monitor and analyze campaign performance and adjust strategies as needed.

4. Content Creation and Management

  • Oversee the creation of high-quality, engaging content for various platforms including websites, blogs, social media, and press releases.
  • Ensure all content aligns with brand messaging and strategic objectives.

5. Digital Marketing

  • Develop and execute digital marketing strategies to increase online presence and engagement.
  • Manage SEO, SEM, email marketing, social media, and online advertising campaigns.
  • Analyze and report on digital marketing metrics and ROI.

6. Public Relations and Media Relations

  • Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets and journalists.
  • Manage public relations activities including press releases, media pitches, and interviews.
  • Handle crisis communication and reputation management.

7. Stakeholder Engagement

  • Develop communication strategies to engage and inform stakeholders, including customers, partners, and employees.
  • Organize and participate in events, conferences, and trade shows.
  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders.

8. Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the marketing and communications team.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.
  • Set team KPIs, performance goals, and conduct regular performance evaluations.

9. Market Research and Analysis

  • Conduct market research to understand customer needs, preferences, and behaviors.
  • Analyze market trends and competitive activities.
  • Use insights to inform marketing strategies and tactics.
  • Collaborate with the Executive team to solidify Business Barbados' competitiveness globally.

10. Budget Management

  • Develop and manage the marketing budget.
  • Monitor expenditures and ensure cost-effective marketing solutions.
  • Report on budget performance and financial metrics.

11. Other Duties

  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Relevant certifications such as Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), or similar are a plus.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in marketing and communications, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
