Position Overview

The Cashier Lead oversees and manages the cashier team, ensuring efficient and accurate handling of all cash transactions, customer service, and compliance with company policies and procedures. The Cashier Lead acts as a liaison between the cashier team and management, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure a positive customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cashier Operations

  • Oversee daily cashier operations, ensuring efficient and accurate processing of customer transactions.
  • Handle complex transactions, credits and refunds, resolving customer issues promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure all cash handling procedures are followed, including opening and closing registers and balancing cash drawers.

2. Team Leadership

  • Lead, train, and mentor the cashier team, providing ongoing support and development opportunities.
  • Schedule and coordinate cashier shifts to ensure adequate coverage during peak and off-peak hours.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to improve cashier team performance.

3. Customer Service

  • Ensure a high level of customer service is maintained at all times.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints and concerns in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Promote a positive experience by engaging with customers and providing assistance as needed.

4. Compliance and Security

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards, including cash handling, transaction accuracy, and customer service.
  • Conduct regular audits of cash drawers and report any discrepancies to management.

5. Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of cash transactions, online transactions and customer interactions.
  • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on cashier performance, sales, and cash handling.
  • Analyze data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.

6. Training and Development

  • Develop and implement training programs for new and existing cashiers to ensure consistency and accuracy in transactions.
  • Stay updated with changes in company policies, procedures, and technology, and ensure the cashier team is informed and trained accordingly.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, encouraging teamwork and professional growth.

7. Operational Support

  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in company meetings and provide input on improving cashier operations and customer service.

8. Other Duties

  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a cashier or customer service role, with at least 1 year in a supervisory position.
  • Strong knowledge of cash handling procedures, customer service standards, and retail operations.
